tomorrow's a BIG day

There are two big things happening tomorrow. First and foremost, Scarlett will be 1 month old! She has come a long way in just a month, wouldn't you say. I thought I loved her more than I possibly could the first time I saw her, but today, I feel like my love has grown a million times stronger.

Secondly, Dr. Berger is going to try removing Scarlett's breathing tube. I hope and pray she can breathe without it, but I know it's a possibility her airway is not strong enough yet. If it's not, we will have to send her to Primary Children's until it strengthens and if it doesn't, she'll have to have a trachiostomy. I keep whispering to Scarlett that either way, everything will be okay, but I sure hope she won't have to have that tube down her poor little throat anymore.

The other day, my brother Tyson and his wife, Cami, came down to visit Scarlett. It was so great to see them and feel there love and concern for Scarlett. They brought a gift of Cami's signature lotion, Baby Magic lotion and this adorable book, On the Night You Were Born, I've read every day to Scarlett.

Scarlett had a few episodes this week of her oxygen saturation levels dropping, but they figured she must have gotten secretions stuck in the back of the throat that she couldn't swallow and she probably was just holding her breath. The nurses were able to bag her and get her breathing again, but it worried me that she was doing that. I hope one day she'll be able to swallow.

Saturday when I came home from visiting Scarlett, I was getting out of the van and glanced at what I thought was a very long worm on our sidewalk which really turned out to be a baby snake. I just about jumped out of my boots! I ran inside and told Jon and the kids and boy, were they excited! They all took turns holding it.

Jaina named him "Gardy" since it was a Garder snake.

Grey is very sweet. Everytime I go see Scarlett, he always asks, "are you going to see baby Scawett?" and that is what he always calls her, baby Scawett.

A few days ago, my mom called me on their way home from visiting Scarlett. She and my dad were listening to classical music in their car and they thought that maybe Scarlett would like to listen to music, too. I thought, 'why hadn't I thought of that before', that's a fantastic idea! So we put some music on the ipod and let her listen to it.
The first song I chose is my dad's favorite classical piece "Rhapsody on a theme of Paganini" by Rachmaninoff. As soon as I put it up to her ear, she moved her right leg, which we have never seen her do before. I think she was wanting to dance!

Yesterday, we saw this beautiful sunset on the way to the hospital. I'm grateful that Heavenly Father created such beautiful things for us to see.

And today, I gave Scarlett her first official bath, not a sponge bath like she's gotten before. She loved it and so did I! She was so squished in that little basin, but she didn't seem to mind.

I loved her feet hanging over the edge!

And now that her umbilical IV is out, she can wear clothes. Me and the nurses love playing dress up with her!

After having a bath and getting all dressed, she was ready for snuggle time and a story. I love you baby girl!
