not so funny

I like a good April Fool's joke, but this year I learned that someone in my family doesn't like them so much.

I remember my sister in law, Cami, doing this last year on her little ones and I thought it was so clever! So last night, while snickering under my breathe, I bought my peach halves and whipped topping. Then this morning I sneakily assembled the ostrich eggs.

Jaina thought it was funny and gobbled them right up!
Hunter on the other hand... not so much.

Our conversation sounded something like this:

"Look what I made for you for breakfast... ostrich eggs!!!"

After a thorough examination of the meal, Hunter starts whining,

"put it back, put it back."

After I cut into it he says in a slightly annoyed voice,

"it's peaches."

My son does not liked to be deceived:)

He then goes and pours himself a bowl of cheerios,

and I finish his ostrich egg.

I think I prefer them to chicken eggs:)

Hmmm, now what to do to Jon?

faith is like a little seed...

Yesterday was family night and all that morning I was figuring out what lesson to give the kids that would be fun, yet suitable for FHE. Then it clicked in my head to teach them about the plants that Jesus created for us. And since we just got finished building our garden boxes, it would be a perfect addition to the Springiness in the air.

We put potting soil in a jar...

showed them what seeds look like and how they grow...

and planted Cheerios... just for fun:)

Then we ate samples of foods that come from plants...

but they had to guess what they were eating...

Hunter liked the carrot and apple, but not the "salad" (lettuce)

and Jaina loved the apple, not the onion!

Then Daddy taught them about pollen and how it can be found inside the flowers.

When we were done with the lesson, the kids noticed that something had grown in their jars...

Donuts!!!

Now if only they grew that easily:)

We are grateful for all of God's creations!
