High Five

I'm just a little behind on this one, but I had to share Jaina's birthday that we celebrated a couple weeks ago. It was part of the crazy birthday week, that I slightly dread each year, with mine, Grey and her birthday falling within 3 days of each other.

But this year just like every other one, turned out fine and the kids didn't even notice that they didn't have there own special cake, and my hips thank them for that.

Jaina is something special to me and to all of our family. She is one of those easy going, fun loving girls that loves everything that has to do with sugar and spice.

One of my favorite things about Jaina is after I put her down for bed, I'll sneak back and listen to her play with her stuffed animals or my little ponies or sometimes she'll sing songs. It is just so cute I can't even stand it.

She also loves ballet and has taught herself to "dance" with her eyes closed. It is pretty amazing:)

And she is also my big helper at home and I know when this little baby of ours comes, she'll be right there to help out.

The simplest things make her happy, so I knew we wouldn't need to buy her anything expensive for her birthday.

I am one of those moms that swore I would never let her put mascara on those pretty eye lashes of hers until she is grown and moved out of the house, but I broke down and bought her a princess make up kit. She immediately dolled herself up and when I say dolled, I'm talking bright pink and blue makeup smothering her face. Luckily it didn't wear long.

While Hunter was at school, we played in her fairy house and then made cupcakes, which we threw away a few days later because of the sugar rush experienced a couple days earlier from more birthday cake. Next year we'll know better.

I just love this little girl! This face describes her so well. She LOVES life!

When Hunter came home from school, we gathered rocks and played hopscotch.

and then watched the Barbie mermaid show. The boys wouldn't admit it, but they liked the show.

and then when daddy came home from work, she got to open her big present, which were roller blades, which I didn't even learn to ride until I was probably 12. She is getting good at them.

I can't believe this 5 year old is going to start kindergarten in August. What ever happened to those days when she was just a baby and I was rocking her in my arms? Time does fly, but I am grateful for the wonderful little girl my Jee Jee is becoming!
