just around the corner...

it's Valentine's Day!!! I love this holiday! It brightens up these short winter days. I had to get to work last week so I could liven up our dreary home with some pink and red!

p.s. can I just say the pinterest is a.w.e.s.o.m.e. for finding ideas?!

And since mine and Jon's 2012 motto is to "live like we are poor" (wait... we are poor, doh!), I had to think of some cheap ways of bringing the "love" into our humble abode.

So, here is what I got...

What would Valentines Day be without the ones you love and a heart banner?

This little doo dad cost me only what a heart punch costs (about $5). But don't you worry. I plan on making a mega sized one to make up for the cost.

Tissue balls, various bowls and such, and a thrifted cardinal.

~Jon asked why I didn't paint him red~

Dollar tree was my friend this year. Are those not the cutest little hearts/arrows, according to Hunter.
My make shift mantel. It does the job for our cold little family room.

At one point in the history of this bubble gum machine, it contained more than 2 conversation hearts in it.

I think I counted about 15 times in 5 minutes that Grey stopped here to grab a little treat.
Don't know why I didn't stop him after 5.

And our chalk board wall will, I'm sure, have all sorts of love notes from Jon on it one day...

And I'm sure I will have other cheap ideas springing up through the next few weeks.

And my little loves (and little Ashy, too, who we love!). They are what makes life worth living!

Mandi, this is just the inspiration I need to make my house cute! I LOVE everything you do...the picture garland, the heart frame, and your mantel. I may need to copy you, but what else is new? You seriously have THE best style, and I am so lucky to be inspired by it!
