1st birthday...

2 years old...

3 years old...

and today...

Tomorrow is Hunter's 4th birthday! He is so excited to turn 4! Can I just say, though, that I am a little sad that my baby is 4. I mean I love that he is learning a growing and becoming more independent, but this just makes me wonder, "where has all the time gone?"
Hunter has been the best first child. Although it was an adjustment those first few months after he was born, he has made parenting a lot easier than I thought it would be. Hunter almost always does what he's told, he's quick to say sorry when he hurts his little sister and he is always excited to help me with chores around the house.
Hunter has always loved learning. I made it priority when I first had Hunter, that we would have lots of children's books in our home and Hunter has taken advantage of that. Every night before he goes to sleep, he sits in his dark room with the slight glow from the hall lights, and he reads his books. He doesn't just skim through the pages really fast, but he studies every page, one after the other.
Hunter is all boy. He loves planes, trains, monsters, bugs, tigers, and his favorite color is blue.
One of my favorite quirks of his is that if he gets his shirt dirty, he has to go change it right then and there or he can't function. Same for his hands. I got him finger paints when he was younger and he loved them at first, but then he could hardly finish his picture until he had to go wash his hands. Now when I pull out the finger paints, he wants a paintbrush to go along with it!
Hunter loves to play with Jaina! They do everything together. I love listening to them play their made up games together. They are always laughing together. Jaina is a perfect match for him. Just as I'm typing this, they are playing with play dough and Hunter's play dough knife wasn't working, so he said "this isn't working, do you want it Jaina?" and she said "yes". It's always been that way.
Hunter also loves playing with his cousins. Even though we don't see all of his cousins very often, you would never know it once they get together and play. We're pretty lucky that Corby and Tay live so close, though, because Hunter has so much fun with them!
Hunter is always helpful with Grey. He's right there to get me diapers or to just entertain.
The one thing I've noticed about Hunter this past year is how much more independent he has become. He is potty trained, dresses and undresses himself, can use a mouse to play on the computer(this was one thing Jon was sure to teach him once he got the coordination), and puts his dishes at the sink when he's finished with them. I can't tell you how helpful all of this has been since I've had Grey.
Jon and Hunter have always had a special bond. Hunter always asks Jon to sit by him at dinner, and he always tells me that he loves daddy and he is his best friend!
I asked Jaina what her favorite thing is about Hunter and she said she likes to play toys with him and that he is her brother.
We love you Hunter and we are so glad you are ours!

What a sweetheart! Happy Birthday Hunter. You can tell that he will always look out for Jaina. He is such a good big brother. Mandi you have such cute little kids and your such a great mom. I hope we can always be this close because I want my kids to be able to get to know yours.
We love Hunter so much too, and the boys can't get enough of their cousins! We are so thankful that we live close together :) Yeah, Hunter and Jaina really do make a great team, that is so adorable of Jaina, so easy going!!
Hunter has gotten so big! Taylor always tells me "Hunter is not in our church, but he is still our friend" Don't worry, I told him that he does belong to our church, just not our ward, and yes I'm glad they are more than just cousins...they are best friends!
What a sweetie! I love that he reads his books at night and studies the pages. I love his brown eyes and how thoughtful he is to his younger siblings. We don't see you near enough, but we love you just the same! Happy Birthday, Hunter!
Oh, I loved reading all about such a sweet little boy ( in the most masculine way possible :)! He is so handsome. I loved the baby pictures. How has it gone this fast? I'm so glad my kids have so many cousins too. I think I know why Hunter is such a wonderful child...he has a wonderful mom. :) I hope he has the best birthday tomorrow!

Hunter really is a cutie pie. I love his little personality. He was so funny about those slippers on his b-day. Thinking about it, I'm not that surprised. You could glue a pink bow on them and give them to Jaina! We love you guys!!
